Another 2 weeks, another 10 random pieces on sale. Not only that, but I just lowered all our prices across the board. Now ain't I good to you? This week's selection sees a little old, a little newish, some recently rediscovered gems and a whole lot of goodness gracious. Get 'em while they're hot (right up until midnight GMT April 15th that is):

BL40 $62.00 $40.30

I also just finished up everything with the latest sewn garments. All of the new pieces have been photographed, archived and prepared for release. Some of these may wait a while before I unleash them. I'm hoping to do a bit of marketing in tandem with that, as I'm pretty excited about the direction some of the new stuff is taking. In the meantime, you can go see a whole wack of new designs I just posted up in the visualiser. While you're at it, register with the fan club so you can start saving your favorite visualiser creations as well as view and vote on others. Democracy, gang. And ice cream.

Paper Covers Rock
Sorry for the long wait between posts folks. There's really no excuse except for the fact that I am a brilliant and tortured arteest with a lot of existential angst. That's what I'm going with anyway.

You still have a week left to get the current featured pieces at a 35% discount. This time around I decided to make a bunch of jackets, hoodies and sweaters available. With this discount you can get some of these items for $40 or more off! But only until midnight GMT March 31st. Here are the current featured products (click the shirt image to see more):

CP15 $82 $53.3

CP28 $122 $79.3

BL3 $128 $83.2

CP13 $128 $83.2

CP16 $122 $79.3

BL29 $128 $83.2

CP35 $122 $79.3

BM13 $98 $63.7

CP31 $128 $83.2

CP21 $98 $63.7

I just finished sewing 20 brand new pieces, and I'm super excited about every last one of them. So far I've only posted one, the Don't Do It Ditko large crewneck (which is also, see above, on sale until the 31st), but there will be more to follow soon. For now I'll be turning the "all-seeing eye" towards finishing up some fun side projects that have been waiting in the wings for far too long: the first batch of ZBQ underwear in many moons, some funky throw pillows for your couch, ZBQ sew-on patches, stickers, buttons and more. Rock beats scissors.

Beware the Ides of March, or Something
I just posted 2 new shirts AND the latest sale collection on the same night. O what a busy Canadian beaver am I.

Both shirts are older pieces that received new prints.

BD91 Freres Bleu large blue ringer
A ringer that was originally sewn as part of batch BD back in 2017 or 2018, brought back to life with a new unique print.
posted Feb 28, 2023

BD14 Into the Bardot medium ladies baseball shirt
This baseball shirt has a hand painted pattern on the front in the form of the dripping splattered stripes and was originally created in 2014. Mash-up print was added last month, and I tend to think it improves it.
posted Feb 28, 2023

So yeah, there are also 10 pieces up for sale on the home page, but I can't be arsed talking about them here. Just go look for yourself. 10 pieces available for 35% off until midnight on March 15th. It's a good deal.

Been sewing a lot lately. I love it but it is incredibly tedious and time-consuming, requiring almost infinite reserves of patience. But it's so rewarding. I just mastered the bomber jacket collar, so watch for those this year. I will be releasing stuff piecemeal in the coming months, but you're going to have to be patient. Then again, if you want a sneak peek of all my latest stuff before it goes live to the public, you should really consider joining the fan club- I'm planning to send out the first newsletter sometime this month and I'm going to have all kinds of goodies in there as well as some noice discount codes. The rest of you suckers will just have to wait.

Owls Aren't Real (They're Just Not)
This week's 4 new products are a mix of old and new- 2 new mash-ups and 2 older jackets.

BMOwls Aren't Real medium grey t-shirt
The very first shirt in batch BM and one of the very first "mash-up" shirts.
posted Feb 18, 2023 at 05:02

BH17 Transition medium track jacket
This track jacket was originally sewn in 2018 but wasn't live in the store due to some minor repairs. As this is one of the first generation of ZBQ track jackets, the pockets are only single layer but the rest of the piece is double layered and also includes a hidden cell phone pocket.

BMNew Pornojournalist XXL navy t-shirt
This is another mash-up shirt created from an up-cycled garment.
posted Feb 18, 2023 at 05:02

BM11 Candy Ladies Small Zip-Up Hoody
Another older piece, probably also sewn around 2018 and left in a bin somewhere after needing a minor repair. Back for your eyes only. Metal zipper is pretty fierce.

I will endeavor to post stuff on a more regular basis going forward. The web site updates of the past few months took up most of my spare time, and I only recently started making new clothes again. The wheels turn rather slowly when you do everything yourself. But now I actually have stuff sitting there ready to go live, and quite a bit of it, so I will state here for the record that I'll post something new at least once per week.

Things that will be coming to this web site this year include underwear, patches, pillows, crazy new crewnecks, possibly turtlenecks, motorcycle jackets, bomber jackets, music reviews, galleries and- the part I'm truly excited about- the beginning of an archive of the old ZBQ and Zero web sites going right back to the first one from 1998. And for those who were there 25 years ago, yes that also includes every issue of Zero's End of the World Journal. Let me just apologize to Lars Ulrich in advance, I really ripped him a new one back then. Even if he had it coming.

What's Up With That Home Page
You may be a little confused about how things are set up on the home page right now. I admit, it might seem a bit strange. If so, let me try to clarify it for you. Every 2 weeks we present a collection of 10 of our favorite pieces and put them on sale at 35% off the regular price. The timer on the home page, much like the one shown below, indicates how much time is left before the featured collection is replaced with 10 new pieces.

So without further ado, here is the latest collection of pieces, which will be available for a special price until Feb 28, 2023. You can also get a closer look at the collection any time you like on the home page. En joie!

My Shiny New Blog
As of today my blog editor is finally pretty much working, so I'm going to celebrate with a nice new blog post. And what better way than to share some recently posted garments with you all?

First off we have Scribble Jam on a small ringer tee.

Bit messy innit? Well that's sort of the idea. Printed with soft water based ink.

Another new one I'm fond of is Here We Come, which is one our fancy new "mash ups" created with a previously-loved garment. This is also a small:

And today's final piece is a zipup hoody that was originally sewn around 2018 but needed some minor repairs before it could go live. This one is a little bigger, a unisex large:

Most of our listings now include images showing chest, height and, where applicable, sleeve measurements. If you're interested in a garment and aren't sure whether or not it will fit, feel free to contact us and we'd be happy to double-check for you. And of course if you order something and it doesn't fit, you can return it for an exchange or refund.

So that's it for today folks. Now that I have a working blog on this site, I will be trying my best to keep it updated on the reg. I also plan to start posting old blog archives from yesteryear when I get things a little more organized. Look at me go.

Return of the Hooded ZBlog
There are those amongst my acquaintances who would at one time have considered me a "tech-savvy" person. An early adopter of the internet, my first public web site, which I created myself, was online before the end of 1998. That site was a full-fledged e-commerce store by 1999. I was a blogger long before MySpace, let alone Facebook, and generally you could say I seem to be comfortable in the world of computers. Hey, I was writing games in BASIC for my VIC-20 way back in 1983- I must have tech cred for days right?

Well nothing could be further from the truth. The reality of it is, if anything I am a technophobe. I've only ever learned enough to do what I needed to do, and I've often used the laziest ways available to achieve that. And after 25 years of internet culture, I'm suffering from "screen fatigue" and find it hard to do anything in front of a computer monitor for more than a few hours. If I've got a lot of computer work to get through in a given day, it has to be broken up by some type of physical activity or I will go completely loopy.

That being said, I still know my way around PHP, SQL and CSS well enough to build the web site you see before you from the ground up (with a lot, and I mean a lot of help from online resouces such as codepen)- I'm not a complete noob. So when I decided recently that it was time to bring back the zblog, I figured I was at least up to the task of maybe finding and installing some kind of 3rd party software into my site, or failing that maybe following one of the many online tutorials available on YouTube and elsewhere on the subject.

Well, I really had to dig and dig and search to find anything even remotely useful. And to tell you the truth, the main problem I was encountering was that most "solutions" out there have far too much functionality built in. You can't just find a blog template that enables you to make a simple post and then, say, go back and edit it later. Oh no, that would be far too simple. It has to have a login system, a way to index things 18 different ways, multiple users and widgets and usually involves accessing style sheets and scripts from other remote web sites- something I've always tried to avoid.

So I wasted a good 2 or 3 full days trying to make these things work. And none of them did- they just didn't. I could have dealt with the fact that they were ugly, or had too much extra crap I didn't want or need, but in order to put up with that stuff, they at least need to do one thing: work. And they didn't.

And so I decided today that I'm going to post my new blog anyway, and it will be the simplest blog in the universe. I write a post in my favorite text editor, I paste it into a line in my database and I'm done. It ain't pretty, but it will work, and it will keep all my entries safe and ordered by date for now until I find something better, or just improve on this. So suck it, internet.

Anyway yeah! This is the zblog, welcome back. I say "back" because way back in the day when I was impressing all my friends with my early tech "savviness", as early as 2003, I used to keep a very regular blog on the site and it was called, you guessed it, the zblog. It became an important part of the site and I had reason to believe that a lot of people really enjoyed reading it. And of course it also became a live archive of my life and the life of this clothing brand at the time, which is why I find it interesting. And yes, that means that I plan to post archives of the original zblog as soon as I can find the time.

So in that spirit I have re-started the zblog and I aim to once again make it a regular and important part of the ongoing ZBQ story, a story that goes back 30 years at this point. I plan to post regular updates about things happening in ZBQ world, but I'll also stray off the reservation in any number of other directions, as is my wont. All while continuing to keep as many balls in the air at a time as possible to convince you, the reader, that I might actually know what I'm doing. Spoiler alert: I don't. Stay tuned kidz.
